Using a Custom Java Version

Our panel is designed to be smart, it automatically detects your Minecraft version and assigns the best-supported Java environment. However, we know that certain mods or custom setups require specific versions.

⚠️ This guide is intended for clients who require a specific environment. If you are unsure, we recommend letting our system handle the versioning automatically or contacting our support team for help.

How to Set Your Own Java Version

Important Notes:

  • This process is mainly for PaperMC, Spigot, and Bukkit.
  • If using Magma, Nukkit, or other JARs, proceed at your own risk.
  • Using an unsupported Java version may prevent your server from starting.

When in doubt, don't hesitate on opening a ticket, our team is more than willing to help you with any issue or question!

Steps to Change the Java Version

Step 1: Accessing the Configuration File

  1. Log in to your PloxHost Control Panel.

  2. Open the File Manager.

  3. Locate and click to edit the ploxhost.yml file.

Step 2: Modifying the Java Version

  1. Scroll down until you find the java-version variable.
  2. By default, our system overrides manual changes to ensure stability.
  3. To force your version: Add -no-detect immediately after the version number.

Example

To force the use of Java 17, your setting should look like this:
