What is the PloxHost Launcher?
The PloxHost Launcher is our custom startup system that replaces the standard Pterodactyl Wings process. It automatically handles safe server startups, detects the correct Java version for your Minecraft jar, logs crashes for easier troubleshooting, and gives you simple control over how your server runs, all without needing complex command-line knowledge.

What can it do?
Everything is controlled through a single easy-to-edit file called ploxhost.yml in your server’s root directory and a section inside the Configs tab on your panel. After making changes, just reboot your server for them to take effect. If anything goes wrong, delete the file, and it will regenerate automatically on the next boot.

Here’s what you can configure:

• Automatically detects the right Java (8, 11, 17, 21, or 25) based on your jar, or let you lock it to a specific version. You can also set minimum memory (Xms) to auto or a fixed amount.
• Choose from optimized garbage collection profiles like Aikar’s flags (recommended for most servers), ZGC, Shenandoah, or add your own custom JVM flags.
• Built-in Log4j protection, Forge compatibility mode, UTF-8 encoding, and optional SIMD support for performance-focused software like Pufferfish/Purpur.
• Optionally keep your server jar up to date from the PloxHost CDN (works with official preset jars).
• Force world data upgrades or clear the server cache on startup when needed.
• Auto-confirm FML prompts, suppress outdated-jar warnings, support custom Forge argument files, set a specific Forge version, and have a PID killer that cleans up stuck processes.

Most settings have sensible defaults so you can leave them alone if you prefer. Only change what you need; the launcher is designed to stay out of the way while giving you full control when you want it.
