Even though The End is the final goal of the game, the place where the Endermen live alongside the infamous Ender Dragon, sometimes, for several reasons, some servers might not need this dimension, so server owners need to disable access to it to prevent players from accidentally being sent to The End. In this article, we'll go over the steps on how to properly disable this dimension.

Before we begin!

It's not possible to disable The End in vanilla Minecraft, you need to be running a Paper server (or any fork like Purpur) to be able to disable this dimension, this is because you need access to the Bukkit.yml file.

How to disable The End

  1. Login to the control panel and shut down your server.
  2. Navigate to the File Manager and locate the Bukkit.yml file. It's located in the ROOT folder of your server.
  3. Inside the file, locate the allow-end line and set the value to false.
  4. Save your changes and restart your server.

The End is now disabled! When a player enters the portal, they will no longer be sent to The End and will stay in the overworld.
